Gary was introduced to Eastern philosophy in college when he discovered the writings of Alan Watts which led to studies in Zen and Zen poetry. Gary is a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance (RYT 200) and has a Certificate of Yoga Philosophy from the California Institute of Integral Studies. He has studied yoga at Esalen Institute, Parmarth Niketan Ashram and Satchidananda Ashram. Gary is on the faculty of Breathe Yoga of Los Gatos.

Gary has photographed many spiritual sites in his travels. He recently published his first book entitled: “The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali- Illuminations Through Image, Commentary and Design.” The book provides a new approach to studying the Yoga Sutras by using photography, poetry and quotation to illuminate the heart of the Sutras. He is working on a new app which will incorporate Sanskrit chants of the Yoga Sutras within the book.
