New Podcast: Debating Shirley Phelps

The Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas has made a name for themselves by protesting at funerals around the United States. At first they reserved their hate-filled protests for prominent members of the gay community, but in recent years have turned their attention toward the troops killed in Iraq and Afghanistan as well.
In this podcast, Darren sits down to talk with Shirley Phelps, the spokeswoman for the church, about her controversial views, the hurtful slogans they use, and campaign that the church continues to wage.
WARNING: While this is a very civil discussion, listeners should be warned that some of the language may be offensive. This podcast may not be appropriate for mixed company.

Darren,
You have read “her” book of choice. I hope she really takes the time to read yours. Although after listening and watching her, she seems to only have ears for her own truth.
I recently saw a documentary on this woman and her Klan. I was appalled to learn that her daughter was studying to be a nurse and then standing on the corner prostituting hate in her free time.
Hippocritically, Ms. Phelps accuses others of not being Christians but promotes a slogan of hateful, emotionally charged rhetorical, condescending jibberish. She uses her training in rational thinking attemptin to justify the mysteries and nature of the holy spirit and conform that mystery to her own agenda and perceptions.
So what, she is a rock, brick blah blah blah enduring mob martyr. She would have NO freedom to practice religion, given that historically, the financial and political support given to Christianity from cult to Mega Church came from many sodomizing, vomatarium using, sinning Romans. Without that history and sinning conscience to draw upon, she wouldn’t have a scriptural position to prostylize. If nothing else, she is ungrateful to the gay and non gay, male and female soldiers that have given her the freedom to be so openly hateful.
Quite frankly she seems insane.
There are moments where you seem to be speaking to the curled up, fearful, grief stricken child inside her.
Thanks for reflecting this dynamic. It once again shows how munificent and courageous you are.
Dan
